It’s cold and flu season and all we are hearing about is to get our vaccines, mask up and wash our hands. Very few “official” voices are talking about healthy lifestyle and natural ways to boost immunity. I believe taking good care of ourselves is critical to our health and well-being so for my family and patients I recommend eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables like these, which are loaded with Vitamin C and phytonutrients. Take a Vitamin D supplement (1-2,000 IU daily). Research showed that many severely ill Covid patients had low vitamin D levels. Get lots of sleep; winter is a time for resting and rejuvenating, not burning the candle at both ends. Being stressed out is known to lower immunity, and contribute to diseases like high blood pressure. Make it a goal to reduce stress! How can you reduce stress? I recommend meditation, acupuncture, long walks, hot baths, time with friends, lots of laughs…deep breathing! Take charge of your own health. The healthier and stronger you are the better you will handle anything that comes your way.
